First group
Did not really follow the zine; spoke from their heads. Tracing routes, communication from-to different servers.
"Who are we", not just consumers that need more bandwidth. What other we?
If "we" do not want to just consume ... what other responsibility. Different levels of wanting!
Proximus ignoring a situation.
Canary islands: many forrest fires, saving lives with whistling languages (silvo) because of phones not working in case of fire
How to think about the death of the internet? How did it die?
Is it on a technical level "dead"? Because big companies are ruling it?
Second group
Did not work with the zine either. Wondering about the current purpose of (the worksession?) What networks, do we stick to the internet and tech questions. Other forms of networks? And what are zines anyhow? Discussed Anarchaserver.
Many examples of the internet as controlling tool, ref. Latin America. Does it help to look into existing tech, will this help social/political projects. And: back to the "essentials", the minerals hardware depends on.
Third group
Are we talking about recovering (a love for) the internet today? Maybe we can talk about
functioning with
the network
technologies
Latin America, human deaths.
What other kinds of communication networks can we have? How do we build something that is
Non-technology?
in some sense.
In 2025 or now ... the
internet as an undesirable place to be. But for some (of us) this is now already.
A proposal to work on in the next days, to recover the TCP/IP protocol in our favour.
Fourth group / general discussion
Fabulating how networks could look, if a dolphin had invented it? (hah, think about the RFCs for that!!
Who to ask for comments!
(or seagulls)
or orcha's.)
You change the whole spectrum. You're under water, and there are so many other ways of connection (thinking of sonar).
Orcas can transmit a lot of information in very short time.
Other modes of transmitting information.
There needs to be a self-reflection. What is the current focus?
Many discussions, each with long interesting tails.
The more important question:
Do we take it serious that the internet is dead, and what do we do? Who is me
/we
?
Do we want to recuperate the internet and what does it mean.
Danger: you are not in sync as a group (!?)
What do we want to clarify?
There is no 'we' as such.
[multiple understandings of a "collective" research situation]
preventing chaos
The example of the anarchaserver project is a sort of 'we'.
Fifth group
Thought they should produce a zine? MM: I am pragmatic!
[i also thought this!]
It could be interesting to think of a response zine.
This version already became a res
p
onse! (Hey, don't use Google 8.8.8.8.) !
What would the zine look like when we take the death of the internet serious?
ex do things in a local network
Is there a connection to the Christian Easter? Ressurrection.
Jesus died! Jesus is alive!
The king is dead, the king is alive!
From the Facebook revolution to Fake news.
To discussions about Fake news and how it makes a difference these days, media theory view on the news.
"all my activist friends are using Facebook"
, 'yeah, sorry for that'
opsec = operation security, in relation to activism
This moment is not about setting a collective path. It is about a feel of the room.

recording ok when direct consent, so smaller groups.
maybe the debate is something to organise?
To organise a moment to record. Short conversations, interviews? Something else?

Super
close-reading of the zine
ex.
What is a socket?
link between softrware and os
It is interesting, these details.
Relates back to RFCs, also bridging different levels, explaining to each other.
different experiences & levels
Poetic relations to the terminology.
Group yyyyy
On the surface is a light presentation
but things fall apart.
When analyzing the socket page
Things fell apart with the socket.

No
t
consequential role-playing,
What are sockets??? :)
The group did a role-playing game (right?
yes, think so!
), trying to understand.
What is communicated by who to whom.
We win depth, by leaving things out.
Julia means well, but it is a bit of a mess. And where is the glossary?
Is this an idea to make collectively? A glossary?
"who is we" --
the characters in fanzines are machines, Julia herself
: the OS, the router, machines, ...
is an interesting point to think about dialogue
what is recorded, who is recording, why are we recording?
(or: what is connected, who is connected, why are we connecting?)
